An independent review of where your energy and carbon footprint stands today — and the investment-grade business cases that turn the best opportunities into decisions your board can approve.
Most energy projects stall not because the technology doesn't work, but because the organisation doesn't have a clear picture of where they are today — or a business case credible enough to get through finance and procurement.
We start every engagement by building that foundation. A structured review of consumption, costs, carbon, contracts, and constraints — followed by a prioritised set of opportunities, each with a business case that decision-makers can actually use.
Whether you're beginning to explore cleantech investment or trying to get a specific project over the line internally, this is where the work starts.
No supplier ties. Our analysis is based on your data and independent modelling. We are not paid by installers, funders, or equipment manufacturers — so our numbers reflect your situation, not a sales target.
The review and business case work covers four connected areas — each one building towards documentation that can support internal approval, grant applications, or external financing.
We analyse your half-hourly consumption data, current tariffs, contract terms, and historic bills across all sites. The output is a clear picture of where your energy spend goes, where the inefficiencies are, and what a credible baseline looks like for carbon reporting and opportunity modelling.
Using the baseline, we identify and size the opportunities available to you — solar PV, battery storage, heat pumps, EV charging, tariff switching, demand management, or a combination. Each opportunity is assessed for technical viability, commercial value, and practical deliverability before we spend time building a business case for it.
For each viable opportunity, we build a full business case: capital cost, annual savings, payback period, IRR, NPV, and sensitivity analysis across key variables including energy prices, usage changes, and technology costs. Assumptions are documented explicitly so finance teams can interrogate them. Output is board-ready.
We identify applicable grant schemes, funding routes, and financing structures — public sector decarbonisation funds, Boiler Upgrade Scheme, ESOS compliance, and commercial PPA or lease structures where relevant. Business cases are structured to support applications where funding is available.
Every engagement is scoped to your organisation's needs — but these are the typical outputs.
Consumption analysis, cost breakdown, carbon position, tariff review, and contract summary across all sites.
Prioritised list of identified opportunities with high-level sizing, indicative value, and recommended sequencing.
Full financial modelling for each priority opportunity — IRR, NPV, payback, sensitivity tables, and assumptions register.
Overview of applicable funding routes, eligibility assessment, and guidance on how to structure applications.
Phased implementation plan with dependencies, procurement routes, and indicative timelines for each opportunity.
An executive summary structured for board or committee approval — clear, jargon-free, and decision-ready.
Energy baseline reviews and business cases are most valuable where the decisions are significant, the stakeholders are multiple, and the organisation needs something more credible than a supplier's proposal.
Estate decarbonisation programmes, net zero commitments, and capital investment decisions that need to survive scrutiny from finance, procurement, and elected members.
Portfolio-wide energy assessments where decisions need to be consistent, comparable across sites, and defensible to investors or lenders.
High-consumption sites where energy cost is a material business issue and the business case needs to stack up against competing capital priorities.
We start by understanding your organisation, your estate, your current energy situation, and what decisions you're trying to make. No charge for this — we want to make sure the work will be useful before we scope it.
We work with you to gather the consumption data, bills, contracts, and site information needed to build an accurate baseline. We keep this as straightforward as possible and tell you exactly what we need and why.
We build the baseline, identify and size the opportunities, and develop business cases for the viable ones. We check in with you during this stage — not just at the end — so the outputs reflect your priorities.
We present the findings to you and your team, explain the assumptions, and answer the hard questions. The documentation is yours to use however you need — board approval, grant applications, procurement, or further feasibility work.
If you want to take any of the opportunities further — into detailed feasibility, procurement, or delivery — we can support that too. Or you can take the business cases in-house. There is no obligation to continue with Renmaker beyond this stage.
Once the business cases are approved, we can support detailed feasibility and delivery across all of the main cleantech technologies.
Talk to us about an energy baseline review and business case. We'll ask the right questions, be honest about what the numbers show, and produce something your organisation can actually use.
